Happy Halloween

This year for Halloween Walter was a hot rod driver/mechanic. Don't you just love Walter's hair doo and mustache(or as Walter used to say munstache), we even found a Wally patch to put onto his shirt to make it more official . Rose E wanted to be a "horse taker carer of." I had to laugh because the other day we went to Pamida and spotted this horse that is in the picture and as we where walking away she said "that's okay we already have all of the members of our family" after that comment I couldn't resist going back and getting it for her. She has named it "Nino" and has been taking good care of him, laying him down in a container that she has made as his bed and covering him up when he is "tired."
Anyway, here is our gallery of pictures taken with local family today as we where trick our treating.
Here they are with Grandma

with their cousins Kirsten, Cale, and Brady

Fall fun

Tonight we went to the pumpkin patch to pick-out a pumpkin. Walter had his eyes set on the biggest one he could find from the moment we pulled-up, here he is sitting on that prized pumpkin of his.
Then we walked through a corn maze. Rose E said "there is lots of corns" and Walter got a thrill out of being our navigator!

Then we came home and Jeff helped the kids carve their "vampire" pumpkin which will be our scarecrow head again this year.

Where the Wild Things Are

A couple days ago I took Walter and Rose E to there first movie in the movie theater. We saw Where the Wild Things Are and the kids where in awe by the experience! Rose E said "that is a BIG t.v." and they must have eaten a gallon of popcorn. It was neat afterwards to hear Walter compare the book with the movie, such my little analyzer! Oh and take notice that Rose E's "Chevy dog" had to have a seat of his own too!

Crystal Falls

Walter and his cousin-Cale got to go for a long Ranger ride today with Jeff. They went from Crystal Falls to Iron River and back to Crystal a different way. They all had a great time. Here they are at the Brule River on the Wisconsin side, it was just getting dark but we love old train bridges.

If you look behind the boys in the field are dozens of deer.

We stopped at this old museum in Caspian, I think, and wandered around. There was an old train depot, railroad cars, and mining equipment the guys didn't want to leave.
Walter really likes these old mining buildings and Cale was interested in it too, especially since there is an old railroad ore car parked under it.

The restaurant we ate at was an old train station and had these old passenger cars next door. How cool is that? The owner of the place complimented the boys on their good behavior.
The ranger puts kids to sleep.
The views were breath taking and the pictures don't do it justice.
Cale is pretending to drive in this picture.

Weekend expedition

This weekend we celebrated my Birthday by meeting my parents in Bruce Crossing, Michigan and taking a ranger four wheeling ride to see these beautiful falls on the Ontonagon River. The leaves on the trees seemed to be getting near the end of their peak but where still a pretty site to see!

Why is it that kids hate to sleep and adults love to sleep?

Little miss Rose E is getting too smart for her britches! Every night she now has to sleep with her stuffed "Chevy" dog. Anyway, just about every night we end-up making a mad dash around the house in search of this dog so she will go to sleep. So two nights ago, before the bedtime routine, I found the dog and we headed-up the steps and while I was getting her pajamas out of her drawer the little stinker hid her dog. Then of course the whole family searched and searched for the dog (he sometimes is found in strange places such as the hamper)asking Rose E what she did with it, no luck. Meanwhile this put an extra hour into our routine and I had to convince her to sleep with something else. So the next day I come home from work and the first thing she tells me is "I put Chevy under your bed" and sure enough there it was. Oh what she won't do for some extra time before bedtime! And speaking of bedtime, now when we get her out of her bed in the morning she says in her chipper voice "you find me!" It never fails to put a smile on my face.
Walter's newest obsession is playing a "train game" on the computer. Anyway, it is a neat game where it is like he is driving a real train through realistic terrain and he earns time to play it almost everyday for a short time, so last night before he went to bed I promised that if he slept good he could play it in the morning. So at 1:30 a.m we found him in the hallway ready to play his game. Thank goodness we where able to talk him into going back to bed!
