Happy Birthday Big Guy!

This weekend Rose E and I went to Green Bay to celebrate her cousin Ariel's 11Th Birthday.
A picture of the gang.
Rose E and Ariel chilling!
Last but not least who says a princess can't be a doctor? Oh and speaking of fashion this princess got a kick out of the mannequins in the stores in Green Bay and called the ones with no heads "monsters."

Oh Happy Days!

Last week we had spring break and spring had sprung! The kids where thrilled to find two blooming flowers in our yard!
One day we invited four friends over to play. Here is Walter watching out the window and counting down the time with his watch.
We had an Easter egg hunt in the yard and
decorated eggs. Walter had me write in his journal at the end of the day "it was the best day of my life."
Here are Rose E and Walter's finished products, their "monster eggs."
One day we also met my family in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Here are Rose E and cousin Colton hugging and
the kids again with Colton.
On another day we went to the mall to see the Easter bunny and play some games. Walter was in deep thought afterwards because this "bunny didn't have real fur so he must have been a helper for the Easter bunny." Getting too smart!
Here are the kids on Easter! Growing-up my grandparents had a lamb cake at every Easter meal. Jeff knew of the tradition and surprised me last year with a lamb cake and made one again for the family this year.
Last but not least the kids discovering their Easter goodies. Hope everybody had a wonderful Easter!

Marquette Trip

Have you ever seen the picture of 2 monkeys flying a plane?
We went to Marquette for a short trip this week. I had a conference, but we all went. Jeff took the kids to the U.P. Children's Museum. The kids had fun with the exhibits. They had pretend stores, animals (snakes, lizards, fish, etc.), an airplane, and even trucks and trains. Rose E. is riding a horse while Walter is off watching the model trains.

We saw real trains and giant ships at the Marquette ore dock, it was very cold and windy on the shore of Lake Superior.

The kids also liked staying at the hotel. They like the elevators and swimming pools!

Just when it seems that winter will never end somehow it does!

It is amazing to me how we went from this (taken two weekends ago at Walter's friends house) to
this! Swinging, playing in the sandbox and

discovering new buds! Yeah!

All aboard!

Today we took the kids up to Quincy hill and Calumet to snap a few pictures. Here is Walter by one of the old steam locomotives on Quincy hill.
Here Walter and Rose E are taking a brief walk on the tracks in Calumet.

And here they are paying a visit to the old depot in Calumet.

Trail Mix: Mud and Snow

Walter is happy to be back out on the trail after a long winter. There is still a lot of snow in spots out in the woods. The bad news, Walter was sick last week, Rose E today, and now Walter is again tonight. Poor little guys.

Smile:)

It feels like spring is just about here already and we are loving it! Seeing some of that snow disappear is promising, hopefully we are not getting teased with this weather though because typically we get a few big snow storms in March. The kids spent a good part of the afternoon outside today. Oh which reminds me, the other day when we where walking, Walter said "let's race to the door" so I started to jog and noticed that he slowed down at the door to purposely let me win. It brought a smile to my face but also made me think is it that obvious that we let him win? He has been doing a lot of thoughtful things lately, I just love it! And this Rose E never fails to make us smile either. Today she asked me if I would read a book to her from "Dr. Susie." It took me a minute to realize that she was asking for a "Dr. Suess" book.
